What is PNS?

The Plasma Neon Sign is a state-of-the-art and proprietary product that ETR has developed. It is PDP (Plasma Display Panel) and it is the first of the kind in the world to replace the existing image display market. It consists of two transparent glass plates that display fine graphic images on the both sides of the panel. This product born with a new concept offers unique and professional feature as a display for advertisement, interior decoration, and construction. The Plasma Neon Sign (called PNS hereafter) does not contains mercury. Images are not displayed by means of an indirect illumination method. The graphic images illuminate themselves by means of electric discharging. 

That is the maximum/minimum size of PNS?

Our PNS products on the current market are available in the maximum size of 1000 mm x 600 mm x 30 mm and the minimum size of 200 mm x 200 mm x 30 mm. customed shapes or ultra mini-shapes and not in mass production can be manufactured depending upon the order quantity.

What is the lag time between the order and delivery to the user in the United States?

The delivery requires some lag because every ordered item is manufactured in Korea at the present time. The delivery time may vary depending upon the order quantity, but it is estimated not to exceed 15-40 days.

How is the display illuminated?

The inside surfaces are applied with fluorescent material that radiates light of a designated wave length.  The illumination principle is that such fluorescent material, when activated by the plasma discharge effect, radiates light.

How is the product designed to accommodate the needs of users?

When a prospective user sends the image or its illustration file  to us in JPG file, our design team will rework the image received  and present it to the sender. When the reworked design is approved by the user, the product will be manufactured.

What is the PNS adapter?

The adapter is for the use of 110/220 volt power. I t is designed to adjust AC voltage to an appropriate voltage  for the operation of the PNS.  The adapter provided by us contains protective circuit against excessive current and voltage for the use of all our products. If any adapter not provided by us, PNS may be under excessive charge, leading to an undesirable damage. Caution needs to be taken in this regard.

What are the points of caution when attaching accessories to the PNS frames?

The PNS is a direct (not an  indirect) illuminating discharge panel product.  Therefore, electrodes are extended to all four corners. Accordingly, the possibility of inflicting a damage to the internal electrodes or the real vacuum panel  when attaching accessories such as screws, tacks, etc. When installing PNS at an display site, nails or screw of  shorter than 13 mm in length must be used. Whenever the installation site and situation are confirmed and notified to us, we will provide  protective device at an appropriate location.

Can the frame changed?

At the present time, ETR offers  seven (7) different types of frames, but with sufficient order quantity,both colors and shapes of the frames can be changed.Can the PNS illuminate the entire surface?

Can the PNS illuminate the entire surface?

Yes.  However, it is to be noted that there are different product groups depending upon flat panel light sources according to new product concepts. These new products concepts are added as many technical processes are developed.  Besides, several dots may be visible on the display panel due to the discharge effect.  According to the original  PNS,the area of the desired displayed image is the best when it is illuminated  about 2/3 of the panel surface.

How many different colors can the PNS display?

Technically, any and all colors are feasible. But in order to accommodate the need of  the mass production, colors up-to twelve are recommended. The color scheme consists of  three (3) kinds of “red” and “blue” and “yellow” each, two(2) kinds of “green”, and “white”. It is to be noted that, unlike the existing signs which are based on the printed colors, PNS illuminates colors and, therefore, the displayed colors are not same as shown on the existing color charts. Particularly, in the case of the red color, its source color is scarlet. If a specific color is desired, our color chart needs to be referred  in order to communicate the exact color that a customer

Are the font and their types and forms limited?

No. Because the overall display method is to process graphic image types, there is no limitation as to types of characters.  However, if the area or width of a character is excessively small or narrow, it may be difficult to display because of its  small size. In such a case, the characters may have to be altered or its display may needs to in depressed engraving.Is the minimum thickness or product size limited?

Is the minimum thickness or product size limited?

Yes.  In terms of its thickness, the minimum width of 5 mm is recommended. Thickness of  thinner than 3 mm is not feasible. When the thickness is lower than 3 mm, the electrodes may not be discharged after the installation of the panel, the discharge may be partial, or image shaking may occur.  Accordingly, the life  and reliability of the panel cannot be guaranteed. 

Is the PNS manufactured only in Korea?

At the present time, it is manufactured by ETR Co. in Korea and is exported to mainly Japan as well as to the United States, Australia, and the Southeast regions. The future worldwide  production of the PNS in the form of plant exportation  by means of technical transfer and collaboration is under our plan.  ETR holds the original patent and relevant patents in some other countries.  Patent has been applied in many oversea countries and ETR holds applicable trade marks and registrations.

What is the appearance of PNS?

It is of a transparent glass frame with thickness of 26 mm viewing from the front and  30 mm viewing from the side. Basically it is made in square shape. But a variety of other shapes such as circular, elliptical shapes, etc. are  possible through customer request and negotiation.
